Trophy care begins before the shot is taken. Watch your shot placement to preserve your trophy for mounting. As soon as a specimen is taken, it needs to be taken care of immediately. Or if you plan to store it for any length of time, follow the instructions below.

Freeze whole in plastic bag.
Larger Animals
Freeze whole in plastic bag. Bring to shop to have skinned.
Animal Heads
Leave enough hike to allow for a shoulder mount. Cut skin around body behind shoulders, turn inside out to ears, sever vertebrae and freeze in plastic bag.
Fish
Wrap in wet cloth, freeze whole in plastic bag.
